We always love London Fashion Week and this year was no exception. It’s a brilliant chance for our buyers to see the new trends, spot new designers and generally experience London in all its glory.
Our favourite show was by Anya Hindmarch who brought space-age/futurism to this year’s London Fashion Week and topped it off with one of the best sets we saw at LFW! Her breath-taking ‘Circulus’ show on Sunday 18th September brought to life her well known love for over-sized circular arenas – picture a sort of futuristic Colosseum. Hindmarch’s set was decked out with models dressed as gladiators with thick dressings wrapped around their forehead and neck, tapping into the choker trend of 2016. The show finished with a hovering ‘UFO’ that descended to lift the models away – surely that is a first?!
We also loved the Markus Lupfer collection which was unveiled at One Horse Guards, a Grade II listed building with stunning views of the Thames and London’s iconic landmarks including The London Eye, Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament. Lupfer’s idea was to create looks for a woman who is always on the go and needs outfits which cater for her 24 hour lifestyle. She is sophisticated, yet quirky and needs fashion that transitions from work to play (sounds like a girl after our own heart!). We especially loved the cutesy cat prints bringing a sense of play to the show. This feline theme has also been seen in Stella McCartney’s 2016 collections and has even surfaced in several London underground stations! Those who have seen our Islington and Soho salons will know that we wholeheartedly support the cat movement with our cat- themed renaissance style treatment rooms.
After all the excitement, we’re back in the office and have put together our fashion week survival kit for you
The ‘IT’ bag
Every girl needs her bag for essentials! Try our Stella McCartney shopper bag, it’s simple, stylish and big enough to stash all those goodie bags and freebies… perfect!
SOS Fashion Tape
With all the fashion bloggers in full fashionista mode, we have to dress to impress! This versatile wonder is always in our handbags – there is literally no wardrobe malfunction it cannot fix….. not only does it keep those skimpy tops in place, it can hold up dropped hems, keep shirts in place when you’ve lost a button and you can even use it as a lint buster to smarten up your darks (surely we aren’t the only ones who end up covered in dust and hair?!) We have also heard that several designers use it in their shows to make sure the clothes hang perfectly.
Spray tan
There are only a few more ‘bare leg’ weeks left in the year and we are determined to make the most of them! Since the sun and out tans have all but disappeared we have become reliant on the our spray tan booths (our normally pale-skinned fashion buyer visited one of our Strip Salon for a spray tan and hasn’t stopped raving about it – you can see all our salons here). If you can’t make it to the salon our South Seas Tahitian Tan Extender is a failsafe option for a subtle glow.
Concealer
It’s fair to say that it’s busy week, running from venue to venue, making the most of late nights and free champagne (yup it’s a hard life we lead). You don’t want to look burnt out after the first day so remember to pack one of our favourite beauty saviours. The Heliocare Colour Compact (which comes in two skin tones) is ideal to even out the skin, cover blemishes and give excellent SPF50 protection. It can be used a concealer to contour and hide those dark circles around the eyes.
Wellness detox tea
After a heavy week of running in stilettos, Instagramming and eating our weight in Deliciously Ella’s energy balls you’ll love to hear we sell our own branded detox wellness teas, perfect for your post Fashion Week detox. Cleanse your body with the delicate leaves and buds from this rare detox tea – it’s slightly sweet in taste and is perfect to end a busy day.
Hope you’ve enjoyed reading!
