We all know that different regions have different styles but does this trend extend to your lingerie drawer? In an article last month, British Vogue declared that the breast cleft is over, as models look to show off shoulders, legs or their stomach rather than a plunging neckline. We talked to our lingerie specialists to discover whether this is true of our Strip customers.
With a fair few years in the lingerie industry behind us, we have certainly seen a shift in the styles over the years. When we first started selling underwear it was still the era of the Wonderbra and push up bras were all the rage, as were juicy couture tracksuits and The Black Eyed Peas! These days it’s a completely different picture…. There’s a lot more variety in our underwear collections and believe it or not, each salon really does have a very different customer profile.
Does your underwear drawer match your address?
If you live in Notting Hill….
You’re likely to be a D cup which means you’re keen on underwired styles but not padding. You’re a big fan of Stella McCartney Intimates and Cosabella. You’re underwear drawer is full of lots of black and nude styles and you always like to have the matching bottoms. The Stella McCartney Smooth & Lace has been flying of the shelves in recent weeks.
If you work in the city
You have to look polished and well put together for work and your lingerie is just an extension of this look. It’s all about the silhouette which means you’re a fan of shapewear and a strapless bra. That doesn’t mean you’re boring – we get a lot of clients looking for stockings and suspenders to add a touch of glam to those corporate suits. Black and white tend to be your preferred colours as you look to keep in check with your more formal workplace.
If you’re an Essex gal…
You love a bit of luxury but you don’t want to spend mega bucks to get it. Our Cosabella Sweetie and Trenta styles tend to be very popular with this crowd as they love the lace and variety of colours available. Your love of lingerie and loungewear extends beyond bras and knickers as our customers here love a little pyjama set or cami.
If you’re a north Londoner.
Our Islington branch attracts a young and lively crowd who like a colourful and varied underwear drawer. It’s also yummy mummy central so our Cosabella maternity bras do very well here. Styles without underwire are getting increasingly popular and the average size here tends to be a c cup.
If you work in central London
Our SoHo branch is a hub for those in creative industries; model agencies, magazine editors and bloggers love this quirky branch nestled amongst the eclectic streets. Despite this arty streak our customers here like to stock up on the basics and are keen to bag a bargain where possible. They’re quite a trend lead bunch with colourful bright selling like hotcakes in the summer and darker pine green, burgundy and black performing better in the winter. Size wise small – medium tends to be the most popular option.
